Chapter 1: It's too early to form proper words
I woke with a start to the sound of my parents clanging around down stairs. I tried to close my eye's and drift off again, but it was futile as I heard the tell tale sounds of my dad trying to wash dishes. Groaning I wrestled with my blankets prying myself from them; The loss of heat was almost enough to convince me to resume my apparent hibernation, but I needed a shower desperately, so I bared it. The air felt damp and the old musty smell of carpet wafted to my nose. I felt another lazy cooped up day of cottage life
HelicaseHelio and I were always sitting on the stairs, chatting about the lamina and occasionally making snide remarks about ribosomes. There wasn't much for us to do. Our job was to simply be, and let the RNA scribble down the letters on our foreheads when they came around every once in a while. Helio was a G, I was a C. It wasn't exactly fulfilling, I suppose. There wasn't much to be filled. So to pass the time, we talked.
"You ever wonder?" Helio asked.
